The 6-Port MUX card is used in the Starlink SL9003Q radios and the Starlink SL9003T1 chassis.
It is used to provide an Ethernet interface and additional RS232 ports. The 6-Port MUX card is configured via a Command Line Interface that can be accessed from the 9-pin “SETUP” port on the card. The complete configuration is stored in a script file on the card. Sometimes it is necessary to read the configuration file. The procedure below describes how to display the script file and additional screens that identify the firmware version and other information.
Please use this procedure only when instructed to by Moseley Technical Support.
Use caution!! it is possible to modify or overwrite the active 6-Port MUX configuration files. This can result in the Starlink becoming non-operational until the 6-Port MUX configuration is properly restored.
Items needed for this procedure:
- Computer
- 9-Pin, straight-thru serial cable (some cards require a crossover cable)
- Terminal emulator software such as Tera Term or Hyper Terminal
Procedure:
- Connect a computer to the “SETUP” port on the 6-Port MUX card using a 9-pin serial cable.
- Open Tera Term software.
- Set COM Port settings to 57600 baud, 8, N, 1, N.
- Set Transmit Delay to 20 msec/char, 150 msec/line.
- Set Terminal size to 99x46, check "Term size = win size."
- The Tera Term software should now be ready to communicate with the 6-Port MUX Pressing the “ENTER” key should return a ">" symbol.
- Enter the following commands:
- "SH SC 1"
- "SH SC 2"
- "SH CO"
- "HELP"
- Highlight the output of these commands and press <CNTRL+C> to copy the text. Paste the results into a text file or Word document. WARNING!! Do NOT right click in the Tera Term window, as this will paste the current contents of your clipboard into the Tera Term window, resulting in a possible overwrite of the existing MUX configuration.
